Answer : ***Just as a good habit to get into, make a restore point first!

This has a great article and suggestions: Speed Up Windows Tips

Basically, Windows runs much better when it is clean. Over time, we put programs on and work and play on the computer and it's gets slower.

Now, we're sure not going to stop doing all the neat things that computers were designed for, so we'll work around it!

Clean up start up!

Windows likes to place just about everything right into start up, meaning these programs start up each time you turn on the computer. Most of what Windows puts there is NOT essential.

Go to Start>Run>then type in this: Msconfig and hit the enter key or OK. Go to the Start Up tab.

You sure do want to have your Antivirus program to start up, but not say AOL, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Works, Quicken, just to name a few. These are all programs that you can easily access even after you start your computer.

With the exception of your antivirus, it's safe to uncheck programs that you RECOGNIZE. Things you don't recognize, leave them alone for now.

Click Apply. Then restart your computer.

This is a great time to check under "Add/Remove Programs for programs that you never use anymore! No need to keep them if you have the disk that you originally put them on with (just in case you change your mind :-) )

Next, do a simple disk clean up See FAQ 3 . That includes defragmenting the drive.

This will do for a start. If you are adventurous, try the tips in the first article I shared with you in the beginning of this page.

Great job!!
