How do I remove a program that I don't want anymore?

Answer:

There are a couple of ways to do this. The proper way to remove a program (in almost every case) is to UNINSTALL the program, rather than just deleting the shortcut or deleting the folder in Program Files. To perform an uninstall, do the following:

1. Go to Start> Settings>Control panel. Depending on how your computer is configured, you may just see Start> Control Panel. Go to Add/Remove programs. (you may need to select Classic View in order to do this.)

Look for the program name that you wish to remove, then click change/remove. In some cases there is a way to simply repair the program if that is the problem that is causing you to want to get rid of it. If you wish to remove it completely, select uninstall. This may be as fast as a few seconds, or it may be as long as several minutes. It will depend on the size of the program.

2. Go to Start>All Programs> and look for the program you wish to uninstall. Exand the folder (there will be a small arrow by it) and use the programs own uninstall program.

There is software available that will uninstall programs too, but really, there is no need for them. The steps I outlined are the safest and by far the easiest methods. Remember that you will need to restart your computer after you finish the uninstall to "put things back in order" for Windows!
